Ganapati is here and it sure is an exciting time…This morning we got Ganapati into our home and did a small aarti with the family…
Then we went to the neighbouring sarvajanik Ganapati pandal and Arjun had a good time there with the bells and the prasad and of coarse his favourite doing jai jai…
But the days before these wonderful 11 days are no short off fun either…And squeezing in time to complete all the little bits of work is super too…
The first thing was to get the Ganesha…two days ago, I landed at Bombay Stores during my lunch hour…Sharon was with me to help me choose…
It was love at first sight - A beautiful Ganesha caught our eyes the moment we walked in and everything else jsut didn’t seem as cute after that…I through in a taatth (that’s the plate for teh aarti) and the paatth (that’s the platform to seat Ganesha on) and I was on my way…
Next was to get the house ready for bringing in Ganesha…We put together an old trunk and an old table…draped it with a bright bed sheet…The MIL had kept this one aside especially for the occassion…And the platform was set for the Lord…
The silverware was brought out and cleaned and polished, the taatth (again), a tambya, bowls for the prasad, containers for the haldi-kumkum…the works…
On my way home from work I picked up some beautiful flowers to create a frame for this platform and then a few garlands for my Ganesha…
A ‘Dagdu Seth’ cloth sheet served as a backdrop for my arrangement…and we were ready to seat our dear Ganesha on this setting…
Now all i had left was getting the prasad together…Three hours of stirring my Modak mix finally got the desired result…
Before the aarti we also put together the panchamrut which is a combination of milk, sugar, honey, ghee and curd…the five ingredients that’s why the Panch Amrut…
The next ten days are going to be a riot…We visit many of the Ganpati pandals and this year my sonny is likely to enjoy it a lot more…
